Pokemon Global Online is a great free Pokemon game that has been developing for a long time. This online pokemon game has recently had a big push in it development with new people on board to make it even better.
The couple of screen shots look promising, very promising and I look forward to it getting better and better. I am thinking that this will be the free online Pokemon game that will be better the the famed Pokemon Crater Battle Arena v7. A tall ask but I think it will happen.

iv'e heard that there are many different new

It is an online pokemon game. You do need to download the client and then you play the pokemon game online with other players/
PokeGlobal apparently requires Java and when I click to run PokeGlobal with Java it says Java doesn't support the newest ver. of PokeGlobal and I don't know where to get an older ver. or if that's even possible.

Juicy, I think this means you need a newer version of Java. Go to Sun and get the latest version.
