I seem to get a lot of comments asking "what's the best free online Pokemon game", "what's a great online Pokemon game", "what online Pokemon MMORPG is the best to play" ... stuff like that.
To be honest I have played a whole heap of them and they are are kind of the same, they most be or they would not be a Pokemon game. What sets the good games and bad games apart is the small things that make a huge difference - things like speed of the site, how often the servers are offline, how many members play. Like all games, the littles things matter.
The best of the best free online Pokemon was / is Pokemon Crater
But there are plenty of others to try out, just go through this site and I am sure you will find one.

Free Online Pokemon Game - The Pokemon League
I have had a comment to try out this free Pokemon online game - The Pokemon League. The website itself looks fine although a little sparse, it doesn't show much unless you are a registered player.
The online game itself is pretty much like most free online Pokemon games, there seems to be a good number of players but the game hasn't been updated since last year and I have heard in the forums that it maybe be shutting down altogether.
One thing I am not keen on is the money system. In the game there is two money systems - Coins and PokeDollars. It seems to be a confusing mix and one designed to make the Pokemon game maker some money. You will find a lot of the time you cannot afford items unless you donate and buy coins.
A barely passable Pokemon game. I would give it a miss as there are better Pokemon Crater type games around but then again it is free so seeing it doesn't cost try it out and you never know it might be just the Pokemon game you are looking for.

is the best online Pokemon game around. Pity I can't find it anymore. There is a site that looks the same and pretends it’s Crater but it is not good like the original.
Pokemon Crater Cheats And Hints
I am not sure how these Pokemon Crater Cheats work as I thought Pokemon Crater had ceased. Maybe there are some private servers with Pokemon Crater running and you need to be invited to get an account. Anyway, here is a big batch of cheats and hints for Pokemon Crater, hope they all work because I haven’t tried them.
Pokemon Crater Legendary Pokemon: Defeat all 32 Gym Leaders and the 16 Elite Leaders to catch Legendary Pokemon. Note: Train almost all your Pokemon to level 100.
Pokemon Crater Online Hint: If you want to train up your Pokemon, then go and battle any member that's computer controlled and type in Zeda and what type of Pokemon you want to train up. Then click battle member. There, it's as simple as that.
Hint: Capture a Mewto first: You need to travel to any tournament and win the challenge. You will then be awarded with a prize. Now go to capture a wild Pokemon, as you have caught a Mewto you have the choice to select any Pokemon at any level. Choose level 2 and leave the Select Pokemon blank. The Pokemon you had battled in the tournament will show up again. Defeat it in one blow and you will again be awarded with the same prize of the tournament you had previously won. You can do this over and over.
Recommended Pokemon Moves: Attacks that share a type with your Pokemon will do more damage than those of other types even with the same power level. Also, these moves are not effective against Bug, Fighting and Water types. Aura Sphere (Fighting-type attacks) are very effective against Dark, Ice,Normal, Rock, and Steel. Aurora Beam (Ice-type attacks) are very effective against Dragon, Flying, Grass, and Ground. Fissure (Ground-type attacks) are very effective against Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel. Dark Pulse (Dark-type attacks) are very effective against Psychic,Ghost/Move that are related to your Pokemon types.
Recommended Pokemon: It is best to have one Sableye/Spiritomb on your team. They have no real weakness. It is unfair for people to fight a team of more than one Sableye, I think. Choose a Pokemon that have less weaknesses. By doing this you will have more resistance against your opponent.
Pokemon Crater V7 Cheat: 1. Open 5 tabs of Pokemon Crater Login 2. Login to all tabs with the same account details 3. Make sure that all tabs have different servers, like Alpha, Beta, Delta, Epsilon, Gamma 4. Open Battle Computer Controlled in all Tabs 5. Type the account you want to battle, like you want to train Taillow lv.8 then Type ZedjaFlying in all tabs 6. In first tab don't start the battle just leave it and in the other four tabs start the battle 7. Attack Once In 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th Tabs 8. Go to first tab 9. Right click then go to Reload Every > Custom 10. Set it to 0 Minutes 1 Second then right click and choose Reload Every > Enable All Tabs 11. Then a menu will appear so click Yes 12. Go to every tab and do this, right click and choose Reload Every > 10Mins 13. Then it will be automatically battling 14. When the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th Tab comes up with 'Error team is not set' or 'You already won the battle' that means the battle has finished and you won! 15. In any tab, right click and choose Reload Every > Disable All Tabs, then open your team and that Pokemon has 120,000+ EXP!! If you train a lv.8 Pokemon then you will get 195,000 EXP!
Crater Online Hint: You can get many legendary Pokemon around the high level map that's part of the first cave map . You can get a Groudon very frequently this way.
Hidden houses: This is just in case you didn't know this in Pokémon Crater. The little houses on a couple of the grass maps are able to be entered. Yes, you can go in them. I haven't heard of a Pokemon in any of them though but some trainers and computer trainers hide out in them.
As Many Pokemon Battles as You Want in one time: First you have to open as many pages of Pokemon Crater as you want, for example five or six. Then write your User ID and Password in all of the pages. Do any battle that you want in all of the open pages. When you win the battles you will see that you have got all experience and money from every single battle. It will also save you a little time because you will be able to do more then one battle at a time.
Infinity Experience: Train one of your Pokémon to its maximum level then keep on training it it will still gain more EXP and it's an easier to get on the Top Pokemon Trainers List. I've seen more people get on the top trainers list by using this method.
Get Lots Of Legendaries: If you caught a Legendary Pokemon then put it up for trade. For example, you caught a Kyogre, then put it up for trade, then just catch another one. This way you can get as many Kyogre's as you like.
Craters Ditto Clone: The Ditto clone is a chance Ditto like Pokemon. It looks like a Ditto with a nose arrow going down. It only appears at level 12 and only appears on the Lava Map. It knows and can learn the following moves: Transform (but only does 30HP damage always), Psychic, Tackle, Moonlight, Harden, Protect This Ditto Clone is called Ditto* in the game but unfortunately it only goes up to level 75.
Pokemon Neon Free Online RPG
Another free online pokemon mmorpg game has popped up. This game is made in RPG Maker XP, along with netplay. This is an online Pokémon game made a bit like Pokemon Cyrus and Pokemon Crater. It has been worked on for several years, it is at version 2.4 at the moment.
A little about the history of this game. The programmer said he really wanted to make his own online pokemom rpg games, but didn’t want to make a normal Pokemon game he wanted a game where you could interact with other players online. He said he used the free MMO RPG maker a server called Netplay, and Pokemon Quest Online, is now Pokemon Neon! The game screenshots look very very good don’t you think.
Pokemon Crater Free Online Pokemon Game
Most people would say Pokemon Crater, the free online Pokemon RPG game, was the best free version ever. I think it was pretty good but the best, I don’t know about that. There are a lot of free Pokémon games to play online and some are very good – or course some are very bad as well.
I keep getting comments and reading around the web that the Pokemon Crater game will be starting up again, this is not true. First it was starting back in May, then August, the last was December the 1st. The truth is the developer has no intentions of starting this up again so it’s best to find a great replacement.
This site has a huge list of probably every free Pokemon game around, well what I can find anyway. Please, if you know of any comment and let me know so I can play it and at least try the game out. I am , after all, a huge Pokémon game fan! Give me a great free Pokemom RPG game any day.

Free Pokemon Game - Pokemon Indigo
Pokemon Indigo is one of the big names in the Free Online Pokemon game scene and went up a notch after the demise of Pokemon Crater Battle Arena.
It is still a great online Pokemon game and is still being developed all the time with lots a lots of online player battling away with their Pokemon. It is currently up to version 1.2. I haven't played there for a little while now but I have read that a lot of players are using the firebug hack to get any pokemon characters they want. That would be a shame and would spoil the game. I still think people should try this free Pokemon game anyway and see for them self how much fun it is to play.

Pokemon World Online - Free RPG Game
I have found another great Free Online Pokemon Game. This one is called Pokemon World Online and it seems to be designed and run by the same person that makes another good Pokemon game, Pokemon Battle Arena (his 2008 version of Pokemon Crater). Must be a busy person to have two online games in development at the same time!
They say it is at Version 0.7, has a brand new GUI and has improvements such as a Night and Day system.
Players can, of course, battle, train and catch Pokemon. You can chat to friends and re-order Pokemon in your very own Pokemon PC located in the Pokecentre. Pokemon Level Up and Gain experience with every Battle. The site even has a forum to post, chat and hang out with other Pokemon players.

Free Online Pokemon MMORPG - Ekaiyo
Man, I have just found out about an upcoming Free Online Pokemon MMORPG and does it look good! It will be called Ekaiyo and when (and if) it gets finalised enough to be released it will be the big Pokemon game that all the others will try to beat.
The big difference between this game and other free online Pokemon games like Pokemon Crater or Pokemon Indigo, is the fantastic 3D rendered world and characters - not rendered as good as Pokemon Battle Revolution on the Nintendo Wii but still, really good.
They have been slowly building this game for a year or so, so hopefully it will be released in the near future.
A great Free Pokemon RPG to play online - look out for it!
